CGI VFX Breakdowns HD - Kon Tiki EXTENDED from Arne Kaupang

Here is an extended VFX Breakdown put together by the talented Arne Kaupang that contains a lot of compositin and digital effects created for the Norwegian movie Kon-Tiki, directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning!

Arne Kaupang was the VFX & Animation Supervisor on the movie, and managed and supervised all the VFX and creature/animal animation on the show.
Kon-Tiki is the true story about the legendary explorer Thor Heyerdahl and his crew on their epic crossing of the Pacific on a balsa wood raft in 1947. A 20 million dollar movie shot in six different countries around the world.

A VFX crew of about 150 people split between six different Scandinavian studios worked on 500+ shots. Crabs, birds, fish, whale sharks, white sharks, deep sea creatures and a lot of complex water simulations.

The movie was released in Norway in August 2012, and has been the biggest box office success of any movie ever released here. In 9 weeks more than 840 000 people of Norway's population of 5 million has seen the movie in the theatres (!) which is pretty insane. It was a huge success at the Toronto Film Festival in September and is due for worldwide release during the first half of 2013.
We also made an all-English language version of the movie for the international release.
