Resident Evil 5, known in Japan as Biohazard 5 (バイオハザード5 Baiohazādo 5?), is a survival horror third-person shooter video game developed and published by Capcom. The seventh major installment in the Resident Evil series, the game was announced in July 2005. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in March 2009 and for Microsoft Windows in September of that year. It was re-released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 28, 2016.

Resident Evil 5's plot involves an investigation by Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) agents Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar of a terrorist threat in Kijuju, a fictional region of Africa. Chris soon learns that he must confront his past in the form of an old enemy, Albert Wesker.
